Mission Statement:
At Stephensville Elementary School the development of the individual is of primary importance. In order to produce productive members of society, we shall provide opportunities to acquire knowledge and skills essential to effective learning.
School Spirit:
Stephensville Elementary is the home of the Gators. Our school colors are Green and Yellow.
History:
Stephensville Elementary School is located in lower Saint Martin Parish in Morgan City, Louisiana. The school was built on five acres of land surrounded by oak and cypress trees. The five acres of land was graciously donated to Saint Martin Parish School Board by Larry Doiron. Stephensville Elementary School opened in 1973. School board member, Ervin “T-Man” Bailey, was instrumental in the founding of the school.
Student Involvement:
Stephensville Elementary is composed of grades pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. The school has several extracurricular activities, including Beta Club, 4-H Club, Student Council, baseball, softball, and volleyball. SES, also, allows eighth grade students to earn high school credits, such as, French I, French II, and Journey to Careers.
Environment:
In an effort to establish SES as a safe, welcoming, and purposeful learning environment, we have implemented a program called Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS). PBIS actively encourages students to achieve their academic potential while also behaving with good character. At SES, the focus is on teaching and encouraging appropriate behavior in all areas of the school, concentrating on the instruction of being a 3 R Gator; assume Responsibility, show Respect, and recognize Rights of others when interacting with others. Students are rewarded when behavior is aligned to the three R philosophy. Rewards consist of Gator Bucks, numerous privileges, and access to special PBIS activities.
